The Space Encyclopaedia-a Guide to Astronomy and Space Research

What, it may be asked, can bring together, in one book subjects as remote from each other as the study of extragalactic nebulae and the development of rocket motors? In our endeavour to break away from the Earth, no matter by how little or for how short a time, celestial mechanics and the astronomy of the solar system are united naturally with electronic and mechanical engineering; but the exploration of space would be of narrow significance if we did not look beyond our local adventure for some understanding of the Universe as a whole.

This has been the guiding idea in the compilation of this book.
