Anthony Glyn’s biography of his grandmother Elinor Glyn had a great success when it originally appeared in 1955. Elinor Glyn is chiefly remembered today as the creator of ‘it’ and as the author of Three Weeks, the most widely read and bitterly attacked novel of its day. But this reputation as a high priestess of romance reflected only one facet of her amazing character, which was itself an uneasy and sometimes explosive mixture of several personalities.
