Family on the Tide by Frank Knight.
This novel for young readers is about the fortunes of a family who, for reasons of economy, make their home aboard an old yacht moored in Chichester Harbour. They have all sorts of adventures afloat and ashore, and experience to the full the joy of
'messing about in boats'.
The story, in which the central character is a girl of fifteen, tells how the family manage-not always easily-to adapt themselves to their new environment and to 'break the ice' where some aloof neighbours are concerned.
Naturally enough, the younger members feel the change most in matters which affect them personally, one of these being the very real problem of their education.
This popular author's latest book combines all the ingredients of a first-class story with a faithful presentation of life's more serious side, and thus should appeal strongly to young readers with a growing sense of the necessity of shouldering their own responsi-bilities.
