Henry Williamson is remembered today chiefly for his much loved Tarka the Otter, which has become a modern classic, although in his lifetime he wrote over 50 books. Less well known is that between 1937 and 1945 he farmed 235 acres a stiffkey on the Norfolk coast. Face with reclaiming an almost derelict Farm run down during the depression and with very little capital, Williamson had to continue his broadcasting and writing in order to subsidise the farm with regular articles in both local and London newspapers. Greenfields and Pavements is a collection of his contributions to the eastern daily press appearing between 1941 and 1944
