Every town, like every human being, has a distinctive character which is in part the result of past experiences. This book describes some of the events and development 's that helped to make the Borough of Ipswich what it is today. No complete and general history of the town has appeared for nearly 100 years. Publication of the present work is therefore an occasion in itself.
