Lorries and the Law.
This book is intended to be a source of reference for persons engaged in goods vehicle operation and for students sitting examinations requiring some knowledge of the law affecting road haulage. It is primarily about the legal responsibilities of lorryl users in respect of operation and maintenance. Chapters are included covering vehicle and personnel licencing, the construction and use regulations, drivers hours, checks and prohibitions, plating and testing and insurance.
The ability of the vehicle user to comply with the safety standards required by the law depends partly on the revenue and capital available to the firm. With this in mind, accounting and costing problems relevant to road haulage are also dealt with in general terms.
