Serving Through the Years Book II- A History of the Business Families that have served Stowmarket for Generations by Sue Cowling and Steve Williams.
 
Some six years ago Sue and Steve published their excellent book 'Serving You Through the Years.' It was extremely well-received by local people and others at home and abroad. With the experience gained from their first publication and considerable further research, Sue and Steve have now produced their second book on the same subject, to add to our knowledge of past traders and businesses in Stowmarket.
 
We are most grateful to them for their researching of the past and for their promotion of the increasingly popular study of local and family history. For those of us who have spent most of our lives in Stowmarket, it is a great pleasure to be reminded of how our town used to be, with memories rekindled of childhood days, of visits to the sweetshops and trips to the many and varied food and clothes shops with our parents. No thought was ever given to shopping elsewhere.
 
In recent years many changes have taken place in our town and our lives in general.
However, the past will not be forgotten as long as we have dedicated local historians to record our history and heritage.
