An anthology of the works of Robert Browning which come complete in two volumes.
The renowned Victorian poet Robert Browning was born in 1812 in London. He had little formal education but pursued poetry fervently from a young age. In 1846, Browning made the rebellious decision to elope with fellow poet Elizabeth Barrett, moving with her to Italy. There they lived for over 15 years while Browning composed some of his most famous dramatic monologues, including "My Last Duchess" and "The Bishop Orders His Tomb." These psychologically penetrating portraits demonstrated Browning's mastery of dramatic poetry. Though underappreciated in life, Browning's innovative style established him posthumously as a giant of Victorian literature whose influence endures to the present day. Throughout his life, Browning enriched poetry through his explorations of the human mind and spirit.
