The London Borough of Holborn ceased to exist as a separate entity on the stroke of midnight, March 31st 1965 and became part of the new Borough of Camden.
Mr Lehmann starts from the very earliest times, when Holborn meant the burn or stream in the hollow, and brings the history of the borough up to the present day. The history of Holborn epitomizes the history of London.
